Steampunk Tree

This is a piece of art work I've been working for a while for my Steampunk class!

I'm very happy with how it came out! it was a lot of hard work, but it really payed off.

This was my original design for the tree. I was surprised by how much it changed, but I actually like it better then the sketch. It was meant to be able to collect water from rain or mist, but now it's just a sculptural piece.

I made the the trunk and branches of the tree with an assortment of differently sized wire. I  also added a little paint to make it more interesting and some nuts and bolts in the trunk. 

I made the leaves out of aluminum facing for chimneys.

I made the strands hanging from the tree by dripping hot glue over it.

I decorated a hat!

Hello!

I was out shopping and I found this amazing black floppy hat (plain) for 2 dollars! It was an amazing deal, so of course I had to get it. When I got home, I glammed it up a little (I added the chain and flowers). This is  the end result!

Hello!

I'm sorry I have not blogged for a long time, I have been very sick.

But I'm better now, so I will hopefully be blogging more often! I already have a post planned out, but I will write it later as I have yet to take the needed pictures.

These flowers where a get well present! Aren't they pretty?

First Day of Steampunk Class

Today a started a new class at the art school where I take young adult art classes!

The class is called Steampunk Fabrication. It is a very cool class!

So what is Steampunk?

Steampunk is a mixture of alternate history, science fiction, and fantasy. It revolves around the idea that what if, during the industrial revolution, we had started using steam power? It often has rusted meddles, goggles, cool gadgets, and flying machines. A big part of Steampunk is taking old things that can't be used anymore and making something completely new out of it, which I think is really cool!
